Shwe Pyi Resort, TRAVEL REVIEW

Feeling tired of hectic and crowded life in Yangon?
Don’t know or don’t have time for long holiday?
Planning for family day trip or looking for picnic spot?
Got affection for nature and green scenery?
If your answers are "YES" to above questions, I would recommend a place not far from crowded downtown where you can enjoy your time with your family. That place is called Shwe Pyi  Resort. It is just simply nice and easy place to chill out.
Detail address: No.99(c),Yangon- Bago Highway,10 mile, Bago,Myanmar.

We have been there on 20-Dec-14 with my daughter and my uncle’s family. It is located in Bago which is 50.1 km (31miles) away from North Okkalapa Township,Yangon and took about 57 minutes drive from Yangon.  It is good for short getaway.  Along the way, kids enjoyed the road trip as soon as we exited from crowded areas of the town. It was a sunny day and we saw many watermelon fruits piling near the road side for sales. You can feel the fresh air which breezed through open fields.
We reached there about 11:00 am and kids were curious and thrilled by some wooden statues they saw while we were driving in.  We had to pay about 1,000 Ks (1.50 SGD) as entrance fees for each person and parking was free of charge.
As soon as we parked our car, we headed to the house of sculptures which is located as a small Island in the middle of the lake. It can be reached through wooden bridge. A lot of sculptures were at displays and different styles and art pieces can be found.  It was quite interesting to look around inside and you will probably feel creepy as well, if you are alone. It was not very bright inside and photo shooting is only good at outer parts of the shelter. Although my nieces enjoyed taking photos with several sculptures, my daughter were afraid of sculptures and stayed outside with her aunty on the bridge.
After that look-around, we took tram ride which cost 10,000 Ks (11.00 SGD). It was quite enjoyable and we all loved it. It took us through different displays of animals statues made of woods such as monkey, lions, elephants and tigers and so on. The tram driver stopped at each exhibit for a short while so that we can look around and take some snapshot with exhibits.
We also stopped at green meadow where the kids enjoyed running around and playing.  We saw families and groups of youngsters having picnic and playing group activities out there. Some people are playing the guitars and singing under shady trees nearby the lake.  I am thinking of going out picnic like that on my next visit. It would also be a great spot for team building activities and events. That atmosphere will let you forget your stressful thoughts and very refreshing.
There were also some bungalows nearby lakeside available for those who wanted to stay overnight. Details can be checked online at their website (http://shwepyi.kmahotels.com).
For us, after about 90 minutes tram ride, everybody was pretty much hungry and time for a big lunch. We headed to restaurant and it is two storey building with log cabin style. The decorations was also pretty awesome and you can see some animals statues nearby your dining tables as well. Tables were huge and quite a breezy place to sit and relax. It would be recommended to enjoy either romantic dinner with you loved ones or even a big family dinner. They had Myanmar, Chinese and Thai cuisines.
We ordered, 2x chips and fried chicken, Kan Kong, dried-chilli chicken, sea food fried rice, tom yum soup, wild boar meat and fruit juices as drinks. Restaurant staffs were helpful and attentive. In terms of taste, it was average but we were hungry and we did finish all. However, it is quite pricy compared to local restaurants. Lunch cost us around 45,000ks (50 SGD for 3 adults and 3 kids, of course it is cheaper compared to Singapore! :) ).
Once we finished our late lunch, it all felt very full and satisfied and decided to go back.
We took our last pictures at the resort entrance with General Bandoola statue riding horse. After that, we hopped in our car and drove back to Yangon.  Kids were tired and all fall asleep on the way back home.  Only me and my uncle were talking to prevent ourselves from feeling sleepy.
Overall, it was an enjoyable day trip and I would give 3.5 stars out of 5.
